Are There Ways of Constructing ¡®Aging in Place¡¯?£ºComparison of Aging in Place Model and Paths between Rural and Urban Dwelling Elderly

Abstract
Focusing on the ¡®aging in place¡¯ which impacts the quality of life in later life, the present study is designed through AIP model including personal factor, physical environment factor, and social environment factor through reviewing theoretical perspectives and previous researches. The aim of the study was to examine the suitability of the AIP model based on the data from 1,000 older adults in Chucheon. The results of this study were as follows: The AIP model fitted well to elderly in rural area as well as those in the urban area. Among the paths from personal factors to AIP duration and AIP recognition, 4 paths in rural elderly group and 7 paths in urban elderly group were statistically significant, so we found that the paths for success of AIP were different between rural elderly group and urban elderly group. These results provided basic data and directions in constructing the support systems for AIP.
